Can You Use Brake Cleaner To Clean A Throttle Body
- #3
You can apply NON-CHLORINATED Restriction Cleaner. The reason they say you're not supposed employ Brake Cleaner to clean a throttle trunk at all is because it's highly combustible. Information technology will likewise impairment any plastic & rubber components it touches. If in that location is left over wet remainder still on the throttle body when you go and start the vehicle, it'll create an fifty-fifty larger combustion than the engine would normally do. This tin result in damage to the engine and/or volition idle rough in some instances depending on how much got down the manifold (if you cleaned information technology without removing information technology off the intake manifold). If there was just a tiny bit, you'd notice that the vehicle would idle upward high past itself for a brief moment. I personally have used Non-Chlorinated Brake Cleaner when I had no Throttle Body Cleaner on hand. I never had an issue in doing-then. I just brand sure everything is actually dry before installing the throttle torso dorsum.

Just today. TB came off easy and the gasket was undamaged. Used CRC Engine Degreaser, foams a lot with just a fiddling. Used a toothbrush and took some effort to remove ring where valve meets the body. Then a quick rinse with what little carb cleaner I had.
The degreaser said would non harm rubber n plastics and seemed weak considering the scrubbing required.
Zero bug later reassembling.
